Dave proves again why he's a pillar,
I remember the first Global Underground album I bought. I was 16 and had recently been introduced to trance music and raves. I knew next to nothing about what to look for but I knew I NEEDED to have more of that sound in my life. I rolled to the record store (sadly, a dying type of establishment) where a case sat filled with what looked to be the goods. Unlike any other time in my life, I was lost and had to ask for a recommendation. Looking back, it was as if I had no idea what to score, but I needed a fix. I can smile about that now and think how fortunate I was that the kid behind the counter had some sense about him. He handed me Dave's GU012 : Buenos Aires set and said "this is it".
I don't think it left my car's CD player for 6 months. It's hard to explain the idea of "quality" electronic music to folks; in a sense, it's like pornography and you know it when you hear it. And with GU012, I was entirely hooked. I learned how to spin and while the drugs and partying faded, I don't think I'll ever let the choons go. I will be the rude old codger jamming out to something like GU243 as I roll around in my wheelchair and think how wonderful life is.
I've been hungry to know what the next GU installment would be every time one comes out. I've written about this iconic series and it has provided the soundtrack to some of the most important moments of my life. All that to say that I had huge expectations for GU39.
They've been fulfilled and then some.
Dave has created in this set a lasting mark and shown that he truly is a pillar upon which electronic music stands. Sitting here as he's dropped into James Talk's 'Polar', I can feel the excitement of the music hitting my nerves. This mix seems to transcend borders: if it's hot, flagrant beats you seek - you will find them in tracks like Peter Horrevort's 'Bloody Hands', if you want to kick back with a mojito and watch that stunning brunette entice you to join her on the dancefloor, you've got Yousef's 'Come Home' (followed by the stellar 'Sycamore Feeling').
I would have happily paid $100 for this album and it's not going anywhere for a long, long time.
I hesitate to do it, but I've got nearly everything that Andy & James have put out and I'll say that GU39 ranks among the top 5 sets they've ever put their names to.
Don't wait another minute. Buy this now.

Best GU since Digweed's LA,
Theres not much I can say about Mr. Seaman that I haven't before but this is his and GU's best mix in awhile. The flow, the mixing, the melodies its all top notch.
Disc 1 (or mix 1 for digital downloads) is just phenomenal in every way. I love Dj Koze's - Blume Der Nacht and its off beat pianos in the intro and the last track of Glenn Morrison - Triangle & Strings (Tom Middleton Mix) is just perfect to end the mix with. There are just to many tracks on the first disc that I love so Im not going to list some highlights as they are all great.
The second disc or mix starts of with Sasha's mix of Yousef-Come Home and moves effortlessly in to Gui Botatto's Remix of Trentemøller - Sycamore Feeling, witch I love just a great track. From Glenn Morrison - Under A Pink Cherry Tree to Carl Craig - At Les (Christian Smith's Tronic Treatment Remix),(another outstanding track) this mix just ends the comp perfectly.
Yet again another smooth and moving mix from the master him self Dave Seaman. This is why every year I vote form him in the DJ Top 100 poll and why he has been an always will be my favorite Dj.

Dave Seaman, I tip my hat,
Having seen Dave mix live a few times, I've always found his sets to be fun, but lacking the structure that makes a great progressive house DJ-set. And recently, as it has often been mentioned, Progressive House "ain't what it used to be".
Well, this compilation has changed my opinion of that:
Disc 1 is solid, although perhaps it fizzles out a little at the end.
But in Disc 2 Dave created a mix so tight that it leaves you gasping in its empathetic sonar orgasm of awesome.
Disc 2 is a mix with structure; it combines the danceable beats with warmth and melody.
Dave combined tech-house, techno and deep trance tracks and to create a definitive mix of contemporary progressive house.
A masterpiece.
